Nothing leaves this tab.

Up-To-Theta was designed with a local-first approach in mind. None of your personal data is collected, transmitted, sold, or monetized. Everything you set up stays entirely locally on your computer.

Information We Collect

Up-To-Theta DOES NOT collect, store, or transfer any personally identifiable information (PII). No user accounts, tracking analytics, or remote databases exist.

2

How Local Data is Stored

The extension utilizes only Chrome's built-in local storage API (chrome.storage.local) on your own browser to store:

timer_config
Your timer configuration (focus time, break time, audio volume level).
task_list
Your task list, deadlines, reminder times, and history of completed tasks.
focus_stats
Focus statistics, streaks, and heatmaps information.
blocked_sites
Your custom websites that should be blocked while you're in the focus mode.

This data never leaves your device and never gets shared anywhere else. Uninstalling the extension or clearing its data deletes everything permanently — we keep no backup, because we never had a copy.

Browser Permissions and Why They Are Used

Chrome requires us to declare permissions up front. Here is exactly what each one does:

storage
Needed to store your settings and tasks in the local storage of your computer.
alarms
Needed to do the timer calculations and provide reminders about tasks regardless of whether the extension popup is open.
notifications
Needed to notify you that your focused session is over, a break has begun, or there is a reminder about your task.
tabs
Needed to launch or switch to your Up-To-Theta dashboard tab when you get notifications or press on the extension icon.
declarativeNetRequest & host permissions
Used only while your session of focus for blocking distracting websites according to your choice (for example, social media) and redirecting them to your local focus screen. No tracking, logging, or sending of any browsing history takes place.

Third-Party Services

Up-To-Theta does not use third-party analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, and advertising networks. The fonts, icons, and voice synthesis are stored locally in the extension.
